Knoxville Baptist
Church History
The Knoxville Baptist Church was founded in 1877 after a series of meetings conducted by Bros. J. D. Clark and J. W. Hall in the log school house about 300 yards away from Knoxville Road. Twenty-six names were recorded on the constitution as the first members of "United Baptist Church of Jesus Christ" at Knoxville, Pendleton County, Kentucky. Bro. J. D. Clark was called as the first pastor.

In May, 1878, the church sought admission to the Crittenden Baptist Association and was accepted. Shortly thereafter the church voted and began to construct a one-story church house on Fairview Road. The new church building was dedicated in October, 1885.

Building improvements were made until January 7, 1966, when the building was completely destroyed by fire. Almost immediately after the fire, the church voted to rebuild. God showed His grace, power, and mercy by allowing Knoxville Baptist's building to be dedicated only ten months after the fire.
Today, Knoxville Baptist Church is committed to continuing the long history of faithful ministry that has been done in the Knoxville community since 1877. We desire to continue the faithful sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, building disciples for God and at all times being focused upon glorifying Him.

To God be the glory, and the honor, and the
praise alone!
